The HP 150A uses a dynamic security chip that is unique to each cartridge. HP periodically pushes firmware updates to the M111 and M141 printers that block non-HP chips from being recognised. This means many compatible or refilled 150A cartridges stop working after a firmware update — even if they worked before. For this reason, Skyrock supplies only the original HP 150A (W1500A) for this model range.

Yes. The HP 150X (W1500X) is the high-yield version, rated at approximately 2,500 pages compared to the standard 150A's 975 pages — more than double the yield. If your office prints frequently, the 150X offers a noticeably lower cost-per-page despite the higher upfront price. Ask us about availability.

Yes. Both the M141a (USB only) and M141w (WiFi-enabled) use the same W1500A toner cartridge. The difference between these two models is connectivity only — the toner is identical for both.

Refilling is technically possible but not recommended for this cartridge. The dynamic security chip inside the W1500A is tied to the original cartridge's usage data. Once depleted, refilling without replacing the chip will result in the printer displaying a cartridge error or refusing to print after the next firmware update. The safest and most reliable option is a fresh original cartridge.

First, remove the cartridge and re-seat it firmly. If the error persists, check whether your printer received a recent firmware update — HP firmware updates on the M111/M141 series have been known to reject certain chip batches.
